Paederus dermatitis: Clinical and epidemiological characteristics of 104 new cases collected at the University Hospital of Conakry, Guinea

Background: Paederus dermatitis is a vesicant contact dermatitis. At the end of winter period 2020, we recorded surge in number consultations for paederus. The aim this work was to describe epidemiological and clinical characteristics epidemic paederus observed Conakry 2020. Material Methods: Single-center, descriptive study with prospective recruitment all cases paederosis clinically diagnosed at Dermatology department University Hospital Conakry, between October 04 December 26, diagnosis pederosis based on combination anamnestic arguments. For each patient, socio-demographic, therapeutic data were specified. Results: A total 104 patients, including 54 (52%) women 50 (48%) men, collected. mean age 28 years extremes 2 73 years. majority patients (59.6%) unaware condition. They lived houses lit by fluorescent bulbs 86.5% cases. peak consultation 46th week year. Eighty-three (79.8%) consulted within first after onset symptoms. (52.9%) used self-medication before consultation. Of (48.1%) had burning skin lesions, painful 46 (44.2%). Pruritus noted 39 (37.5%) patients. lesions dominated erythema linear aspect 55 vesicles 20 (19.2%) bullae 8 (7.7%) In 30 (28.8%) there single lesion, 34 (32.7%) double 18 (17.3%) triple lesion 22 (21.2%) more than three lesions. (66.3%) located exposed areas. Conclusion: major problem our context may present itself as real epidemic. better information focused preventive measures could contribute reduction prevalence disease population.
